Wizenoze’s aim to reclaim the internet for education aligns very well with the values of OpenWebSearch objective to restore free, open and unbiased access to information. In the WOWI project, we aim to validate that a search engine with an active user base can be run on top of the OpenWebIndex (OWI). Successful replacement of our crawler and indexer with the OWI should prove the feasibility of open web search, also after the project ends. We aim to show that third-party search applications can be built on top of it, that would not have been possible without relying on commercial non-European gatekeepers.
