Wizenoze is a solution that helps discover and share trusted educational resources from the internet. Wizenoze’s aim to reclaim the internet for education aligns very well with the values of OpenWebSearch objective to restore free, open and unbiased access to information. “In the WOWI project, we aim to validate that a search engine with an active user base can be run on top of the OpenWebIndex (OWI)” says Thijs Westerveld. Successful replacement of Wizenoze’s crawler and indexer with the OWSAI technology should prove the feasibility of OpenWebSearch.eu, also after the project ends. The goal is to show that third-party search applications can be built on top of the OWI, which otherwise would not be possible without relying on commercial non-European gatekeepers.
